Private Client Fees
At Riverside Solicitors, we provide a discreet, strategic, and highly personalised criminal defence service for clients who expect the highest professional standards. Every case is unique, and we take time to understand your circumstances before agreeing any fee arrangement.
We are committed to transparency from the outset. All fees are agreed in advance and confirmed in writing, so you remain fully informed throughout your case.
Our Approach to Fees
We can act for private clients on a privately funded basis, reflecting the quality, discretion, and exclusivity of the service we provide. We offer two main pricing models: Fixed Fees and Hourly Rates.
Private Fee Arrangements
Fixed Fees
For specific hearings or defined stages of a case, we can agree a fixed fee at the outset to provide certainty and transparency.
Fees vary depending on the seriousness and complexity of the case, the seniority of the lawyer instructed, and whether specialist counsel is required.
We will always provide a clear written quotation before you instruct us. All fees are quoted exclusive of VAT, which will be added at the current rate (20%).
Hourly Rates
For complex or ongoing matters, we charge based on the time spent and the experience of the lawyer involved.
Our hourly rates vary depending on the complexity of your case and the seniority of the lawyer handling your matter. You will receive a written estimate before work begins, along with regular cost updates throughout your case.
All hourly rates are exclusive of VAT, which will be added at the current rate (20%).
Disbursements
Disbursements are additional costs payable to third parties, such as:
- Barristers’ fees
- Expert witness fees
- Travel or accommodation expenses
- Court fees (if applicable)
We will always inform you in advance of any likely disbursements and whether VAT applies to them.
What’s Included
Our fees typically include:
- Initial consultation and advice
- Case review and preparation
- Correspondence with the police, prosecution, or court
- Representation at the agreed hearing(s)
Not included: appeals, retrials, confiscation proceedings, or work outside the agreed scope. We will always confirm any additional work and costs before proceeding.
Tailored Estimate
Costs depend on the facts and complexity of your case. Following an initial consultation, we will provide a detailed written quote and confirm the total cost before you decide to proceed.
